Isoko Ring Road: Agbi Brokers Peace Between Contractor, Ofagbe Community

The Special Adviser SPAD to the Governor on Project Monitoring/Audit Engr. Dr. Goodnews Agbi, has brokered peace between contractor handling Ofagbe section of 24 kilometer Isoko ring road and Ofagbe community.
A peace accord agreement was reached yesterday in a meeting held at the Directorate of Project Monitoring/Audit, Asaba between Ofagbe community, client ministry (Highways and Urban roads) and the contractor, Dora Dan Global Resources.
Speaking to journalists briefly after the meeting which lasted for several hours, Dr. Agbi, affirmed that, “the purpose of the meeting was to reconcile the contractor and the host community and we arrived at the conclusion that the community will support the contractor”. He stated.
“And again the community will work with the contractor in area of security to ensure that there’s no problem”. He assured that the contractor is on same page with the directorate and the community.
The managing director of Dora Dan Global Resources also affirmed the resolution of the peace meeting and to return to site in ensuring the completion of the said 24 kilometer reconstruction of Ellu/Ovrode/Ofagbe/Orie-Irri/Okpe-Isoko/Uro-Irri/Ada-Irri, Isoko ring road in Isoko North and South Local Government Areas of the state as follows.
“The contractor Dora Dan Global Resources has agreed to move to site and complete the job”.
“That contractor will be dealing with the community representative on security, labour and any other issues not individuals or families”.
“The team of engineers and all stakeholders will visit the site for assessment and final correction on the project”.
“Ofagbe community should cooperate with the contractor to enable him deliver the job as scheduled”.
“It was a good one, we thank God for this meeting, at least we now know that by the time we resume back to site the community will give us their full support to enable us to operate, so am really happy with that”, he said.
President General, PG, Isoko Development Union, IDU an umbrella body of the Isoko cultural group, Prof. Chris Akpotu, who happens to hail from Ofagbe community expressed happiness towards the aims of the meeting, saying, “Thank God for this meeting, basically is targeted towards ensuring the contractor gets back to site to handle what’s in his hands on behalf of Isoko nation and Ofagbe community in particular”.
“So we are quite happy that we had another wonderful platform to put all the issues on the table and discuss them to ensure that the work is completed timely”, the IDU president added.
